Seen this on the web and just had to pass it on ......
NOTE: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING RELEASE NOTES BEFORE PERFORMING
UPGRADE!
When upgrading from Girlfriend 1.0 to Wife 1.0, you may find it to be a
memory hog leaving few system resources for other applications. Wife
1.0 may also spawn Child-Processes, which further consumes valuable
resources. This was not included with the original product
documentation, although users have reported since its development that
this is the nature of the application.
Also note that Wife 1.0 installs itself so that it is always launched at
system initialization where it can monitor all other system activity. As
such, other applications, such as PokerNite 10.3, BeerBash 2.5 and
Pubnite 7.0, are no longer able to run in the system at all, crashing
the system when launched even though they worked fine before
installation of Wife 1.0.
Wife 1.0 provides no installation options. Thus, installation of
undesired plug-ins, such as Mother-in-law 55.8 and Brother-in-law 3.0,
is unavoidable. Furthermore, system performance may seem to diminish
with each passing day.
The future release of Wife 2.0 may include some of the following
features:
1. A "Don't Remind Me Again" button
2. A minimize button
3. An install shield feature that allows Wife 2.0 to be
installed with the option of uninstalling at any time
without losing cache or other system resources.
4. An option to run the network driver in "Promiscuous Mode,"
allowing the system's Hardware Probe feature to be
much more useful.
One alternative is to upgrade to Girlfriend 2.0, but this may expose
other problems. For example, you cannot install Girlfriend 2.0 on top
of Girlfriend 1.0. You must uninstall Girlfriend 1.0 first, otherwise
the two versions of Girlfriend will conflict over shared use of the I/O
port. Again, this is a feature that has been reported since its
development by other users of the product as the nature of the
application.
Additionally, the uninstall program for Girlfriend 1.0 may leave
undesirable traces of the application in the system. Finally, with all
versions of Girlfriend, annoying messages regarding the advantages of
upgrading to Wife 1.0 will continually appear.
*****BUG WARNING*****
Wife 1.0 has an additional, undocumented problem. When attempting to
install Mistress 1.1 before uninstalling Wife 1.0, Wife 1.0 will delete
MSMoney files before uninstalling itself. Once this happens, Mistress
1.1 will not install, claiming insufficient resources.
