Hi everyone

After a succesful run last year, Harley Davidson are generously donating new Harleys to support the cause of breast cancer in young women again in 2006.

Last year, young female breast cancer survivors went on a global run - through the US, UK and Australia - raising awareness of breast cancer in young women and accessing a very different kind of peer support. One of the riders said it was "the best group she never wanted to join".

When you are faced with your own mortality at such a young age, why not learn to ride a Harley up the east coast of Australia or go trekking across New Zealand or rebuild houses in tsunami affected regions of Sri Lanka?

2006 Amazon Heart Thunder dates are:

United Kingdom: August 19 - 26 Applications open March 29
United States: September 23 - 30 Applications open May 10
Australia: October 14 - 21 Applications open May 24

Go to http://www.amazonheart.com/ for more information or PM me for details.

Cheers
Dan

With 20 chicks on big Harleys, it sounds like thunder when you are rolling into town! (especially with screaming eagle exhausts in a tunnel like the Sydney Harbour tunnel!).

Changing Gears was the original name - as many women did "change gears" literally in their lives when diagnosed with cancer. Many turned a negative experience like cancer into a positive one. I felt humbled by the determination and courage of these women! We changed the name to Thunder (to reflect the sight and sound of women on Harleys) and also because www.changinggears.org got confused withwww.changinggears.com! Very different aims!

Amazon Heart - how did the name come about? The Amazon warriors of Greek legend were renowned as strong and independent fighters, famed for removing one breast to improve the accuracy of their archers. The name, Amazon Heart, reflects the challenge women face in incorporating the emotional vulnerability and fragility brought by a diagnosis of cancer, with a strong and independent outlook on life.

Cheers
