Illawarra??

They merged with St George a few years ago, 9Fingers. Now they are the St George / Illawarra Dragons!:p

And they haven't played in months!

Are you receiving delayed telecasts there in the States? Well I don't want to spoil it for you, but St George / Illawarra were knocked out by Wests Tigers one week before the Grand Final. Parramatta was knocked out by the Cowboys the same weekend (grumble grumble) and Wests went on to win the Premiership.

Oh - I guess that would spoil it for you. Sorry.:o

Oh how I love not having to hang on the fortunes of the woeful Detroit Lions anymore. God they could make a long winter unbearable.

Is a superbowl made on a super lathe then?

Where's Pittsburgh? Can't find it in my Melways?

Gridiron, as football is called here, does not have a large following because:

No one is awake when the games are broadcast, and
They used to have a highlights show here that was hosted by the single most annoying American on the planet. This guy was here because he must have been kicked out of every two-bit TV station over there. I can't look at a decent game of football without hearing his grating voice in my mind's ear. (He made New Yorkers sound like Sir John Gielgud)

Only time I ever had anything to do with the Superbowl games was when I was living in the Phillipines. The bar I drank at used to run a sort of pool on the games. Never did figure out the football game or how the pool worked for that matter, but I won it a couple of times.

turns out, that's all you needed to know.:D Plus, I'm guessing there wouldn't be anything else to do in a bar in the Philippines:confused:cool:

Well not in this particular bar. :D A bit of a rest haven, just good food and 2 day old Aussie football videos mixed in with the Yank stuff.

Steelers? You would be referring, of course, to the steel plate body armour required by those sissies before they'll risk physical contact?

We played Grid Iron at high school without the Kevlar and it was a lot less rough than bloody rugby. It's a great sport with excellent tactical play and a combination of strength, skill and speed but I just cant understand the body armour!

It's there to disguise the robotic implants?

Why do they have to change teams all the time? ie attack players go on the defence? Would be like cricket having two sets, one of bowlers/fielders, then a change to a batting team?

At least they give some AFL players a go when they need a big kick.
