Hi guys,

I already have a straight air driven bradder, that is suited to drive 16 gauge C series brad nails. I've tried using 16 gauge 50mm brads to fit skirting board but they appear not to be penetrating the light steel stud/bottom cap and bending over toward the head of the nail after being fired.
For reference sake, skirting board is 18mm thick pine, and 10mm plasterboard.

I know Paslode make a 15gauge hardened steel D series brad for steel frame fixing, but I haven't been able to find anything in a 16 gauge C series that is a hardened steel brad suitable for fixed to light steel frame. Is there a 16 gauge C series hardened brad suitable for steel frame fixing ?

This is as close as I could find hardened in C series, but 15G. My Paslode can adapt to 14G (ND) or 16G (C)

More searching and I've only found hardened brads in 15 gauge, curiously in both C and ND formats

I'd hazard a guess that if your gun in C series, 15G hardened specified for C series would be worth a try

Sorry for my late reply, and thank you for your response.

So both paslode and airco make the hardened steel brad nails for fixing to steel frames. But both are a little confusing on what gauge gun they're suited to. Airco had their hardened C series brad nail listed under the 16Gauge straight bradder on the website but the C series hardened brad nails listed info under that read as 15Gauge. I emailed Airco and was advised that they should read as 16Gauge.

I ended up buying some paslode hardened steel brad nails for steel frame fixing as I could borrow a straight paslode bradder from a family member. The paslode brad nails (part B21645) read on the outside of the box as 15Guage however when you open the box up there's a slip in the box stating to use 16guage C series head which is what is fitted to the gun.

Whilst they feed up the load cartridge fine they had issue coming through the last of it to where they need to be fired, maybe because its an old gun that's had some use and needs a little bit of love. I was able to get it to fire them albeit, after each shot I had to manually push the feed up up on the paslode gun.

I also tried them in my cheapo ryobi 16 guage C series air bradder, and the paslode harderned brad nails are firing fine.

This is great info. Thanks for sharing. Two brands meaning 16 but stating 15? What are the chances? That gun might need a service and some slippery stuff on the moving bits :)
