I have just had a new front door fitted leaving two gapping holes in the fram where the old locks were. What would be the best wood fillers to use the door fiter said to use builders bog, the door frame ihas been stained in oil rich would stain which I would like to keep. In the past if it was to be painted I would use Plasti- bond but staining this does'nt work out all that well, any ides thanks

If it was painted then a filler would work, a stain and clear coat could also be used over a close matching timber filler.
As you say the existing frame is finished with an oil rich finish the only option that is going to come close is to inlay some real timber with the same colour and grain structure as the original frame.

Done carefully it will be almost invisible once completed.
