Has anybody here owned or driven the Ford Dedicated gas Falcon RTV?
Ever since my old ute got torched a few years ago I've been driving a little Kia Cerato, great little car but I'd not trust it towing my camping gear in the trailer. A few around for sale but the dedicated gas units seem to be cheaper and I'm wondering if there are any major long term problems with these engines?
Not willing to pay much more than $7k- either on something this old but not looking for a project either

Assuming the models you are looking at are the Barra engine?

If so the Gas Green Tops are the pick of the bunch for a bit of performance, from factory they are fitted with much stronger connecting rods.
They were also highly used in the sedans for Taxi fleets and racked up many miles. Not a lot of significant issues in standard form but do suffer from oil pump failures when you are chasing power and valve springs in early models.
Of course most of these are getting to a fair age now, service history is key to their current condition.

Before going dedicated gas make sure the gas is available where you intend to travel.

Gas has gone by the wayside with the introduction of the Hybrid vehicles, and also the fact Govco stuffed the vehicle gas industry when they gave $2000 for gas installs on vehicles so the industry simply doubled the gas install prices almost over night.

Well the local vehicle I was looking at has already gone. I've always thought that the RTV Falcon would have been a reasonable compromise for my needs and my old ute was great towing vehicle
