Hi there,
I am new to this forum and interested in finding new ideas and concepts.
I have been making bespoke furniture for family and friends for many years now, first in Victoria then PNG before settling in NSW.
However we have just relocated to Qld to be nearer to our children.
I do not have a decent shed yet to potter in so my entry back into woodworking will be slower than I wished.
I have had to relinquish a lot of my equipment and projects during this move, however I do intend to create a more functional workshop layout once the shed is completed.
I will be looking for more equipment and certainly more ideas on streamlining my shed layout
Hoping to find like-minded friends to exchange ideas and thoughts with
Regards
Allan Rush

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Allan" ........
There are a stack members around Brisbane and cross South East Queensland plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork......
Cheers crowie

Hi Crowie,
My brother recently died and he passed onto me my fathers shopsmith that he had built our whole house with (it was featured in Home Beautiful)
It was an Australian shopsmith.
I was able to purchase a second shopsmith locally that I had intended to use as spares (this one is an import)
However with the move to Qld and not having a shed to put anything in I need to find someone that would be interested in thses excellent machines.
They are both tired and definately in need of major repair
There seems to be a lot of interest overseas but I cannot locate the same level of interest here in OZ.
Please let me know if there could be some interest
Regards
Allan

I have a Shopsmith that was given to me by my grandfather when I was at uni. He managed to do some amazing projects on it out of a garage, including a Brazilian Mahogany desk for me.

It was a good starting tool (not dissimilar to Triton) that gave lots of flexibility for a starting woodworker. Over time I gradually replaced the functions with dedicated machines (table saw, jointer, lathe etc) once I knew I wanted to keep perusing this hobby.

The market for used Shopsmith’s isn’t going to be strong due to the flood of cheaper entry level tools available now. This is not necessarily a bad thing, just a sign of how things have moved on. There is still a rusted on group, particularly in the States who being invested in the system continue to use it and the fact the likes of Incra make products for the Shopsmith shows there is still a decent demand.

Over here I still think there is a niche for them, but the prices they sell for are generally rock bottom.

Sorry I can help you on the Shopsmith
I’d suggest you try advertising it in the forums “Market Place” with lots of photos and descriptions notes.
cheers ”
