New here; total newbie

Hope to learn about woodworking. Just retired and always wanted to learn. My experience is limited to rough carpentry and some VERY basic bookcase making. Bought a used RIDGID 2424 table saw and used Delta miter saw. Checked adjustments and they seem to be OK. I hope to use this equipment to build better storage cabinets, stereo cabinet, shelving and who knows...

If you are interested in learning woodworking, there is no substitute for joining a local woodworking club. They frequently have classes, group projects, and build along's. This sort of thing is a great way to build your skills while avoiding dangerous and bad habits.

Not sure where I should post regarding specific questions. As a total newbie, I'm just discovering how to use my table saw. I didn't even know where to stand (fence on right of blade or left). Intimidating at first and still making adjustments for accuracy. Started just building small boxes with lap joints and I really suck bad. The first one and second one were horrible and realized the miter gauge is not very accurate for crosscuts, so I guess I'll be building a sled. My first project is to build some simple boxes for speaker stands but want them to look nice. Did not realize all the jigs that are needed and I may need a dadoing blade? making 3/4 inch dados with my blade takes a lot of passes. Want to make sure I learn how get clean, accurate dados for shelving or corners before I try anything else. Also, I'm realizing I'll need lots of clamps... and a router table? My eyesight is not very good for upclose work, so have to wear glasses and the eye protection I got does not work with glasses. Another newbie mistake, so back to ground zero. Also my space is in the basement; no windows, so scratching my head how get rid of dust. Have a Shopvac but that's it.
Lots of questions.
