If you have flex connectors under basins, sinks, toilets, and they are older than 10 years it is wise to replace them.
Insurance companies suggest/recommend these be replaced at 10 years.

It does happen that these flexible hoses burst. The resultant damage can be quiet extensive if it is not quickly noticed and the water turned off.
Think of water logged cupboards, sodden floors and more!
It was just on knock off time when the workshop phone rang and I debated on picking it up or not. To save having to come back in (call in) I picked it up. Water was dripping from the ceiling onto the carpet.
Quickly racing to the plantroom above, a flexible hose had sprung a leak, and water being water had found its way through the slab, into the ceiling space and out onto the carpet below.
Could you imagine the damage if it was left for an hour, or worse still it started leaking over the weekend only to be found many hours latter.
After this the hoses (a dozen of them) were all replaced with solid copper pipe. Now other things leak, but not flexible hoses.

Recently I had two burst in my home. Luckily I was nearby and heard it only because of the high water pressure and resultant spray created a lot of noise. Despite turning off the main stopcock within 2mins my hall was quite flooded. These flexible lines were only 5 years old, installed by a plumber, and were from Bunnings.
So I installed these automatic shut off valves as well as replace all of my flexible lines with better quality lines:

Now I can sleep/leave the house with peace of mind.
