Sitting down having a cuppa and swatting flies.
One deady fell on the ground into an ant line.
Another fliy flew down immediately and looked at it.
Then it came up and had a go at me.
And flew down and had another look at the dead one.
Next time it attacked it ended up in the ant line too.
And the ants carried them both down their ant hole.
Never thought about flies before but it seems they may have mating pairs like some birds and animals. Anyone here an insect specialist??

About 30 years ago as part of a fly eradication program they released about 80,000 sterile male flies in the Burrinjuck Dam area.
When it was being discussed in the local pub one old timer commented, "That would be a bastard of a job". When asked what he was talking about he replied:-
"Cutting the nuts out of 80,000 flies". :D

Nah flies just like dead things and buzzing in people's faces. So it was faced with a connundrum when it had to choose between the two. Fly brains aren't big enough to remember anniversaries and such...

They dont live long enough to have mates, read in the paper late last year that summer will see the coming and going of a few generations of flies.
