Probably being a little stupid myself posting this......but, I find it kinda fascinating.
My 3 year old daughter got a box of rubber snakes and lizards for christmas, that she'd been playing with in the bath. One was left on the floor last night. Found this in the morning...... I mean,,,,, ??? An't ants blind ? ...So, wouldn't their other senses be 'evolved' enough to tell the difference ?

3yo? Bath?
Dunno 'bout your household, but here the latter is usually 'cos the former is covered in something edible. Not necessarily healthy, but edible.
And invariably sticky...

Hang around long enough in the service and someone might make you a "paid" officer, look at "Steak" Steve, fomerly of the Transport "conglomerate".

Hey ya Bruce. You know Kyogle well !:D
Don't know Steak Steve personally. Only really know guys in my unit. Don't think I'll be around long enough to get paid though, or to become an officer. Not keen on the responsibility. Prefer to just hose things down. (like the captain :D )

I found "meat ants" in a box of tissues, cutting them up and carrying the pieces away.

ants at my folks place always went to any drops of water left on the counters. If there was any food, they went there too, but they liked the water.

If the bath had bubbles in it there could be bubble residue on the snake. Bubble bath stuff is made from some sort of coconut product. Could be it.
I had ants once years ago, that came out of a hole in the bench, went up to the roof, did a lap of the kitchen, out the door, all round the lounge room, back through the same door on the other side and back round the kitchen to a bowl of something that was 6 inches from where they had emerged. It was amazing. Prolly 20 meters of 1/2 inch wide ant trail. :oo: I took the bowl away and spoilt the party though. :D

We had some do a lap of the lounge room, going through three inside corners, around the wall that partly separates dining/loung areas (two outside corners) and on into the kitchen.
Spray didn't work, so I paid a little more attention. The came in near the (9') ceiling, through a small hole in the brickwork around the fireplace. A small plug o "no more gaps" and there were no more ants.
Silly ants.

OK, how are they getting into the dishwasher, yet the dishwasher doesn't leak?
