Hi I'm a music teacher (djembe specialist) living in Leicester, UK - ground zero for many of you!

I started very modestly with DIY having no family experience or training but have been learning as I go completely renovating my house and recently milling wood on an Alaskan Mill and building clamps and other tools that I can't afford to buy. Now my garage is full of tools with a vintage startrite 352 bandsaw, 165 table saw and recently a Wadkin lathe RTA 392, test 40231. I have no turning experience but love Wadkin machinery (still lusting after a Wadkin panel saw or AGS 10 but don't have the space or funds) and know that if I continue making handles and knobs the way I do, I'm asking for trouble!

Will be looking for help, advice and any tips anyone is willing to offer. I was told my lathe works but was partway through a refurb so will be a great learning curve.

Thanks guys!

G'Day & Welcome to the Great Southern Land and to a top forum .....
There are quite a few members from UK and many from the Europe plus of course the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork and turning...
Cheers from On Top DownUnder, crowie
