Shane Warne has passed away aged 52 from a suspected heart attack. He will be particularly remembered for his "ball of the century" against Mike Gatting.
A great cricketer.

When my wife told me that Warney was dead this morning I thought that it was a terrible joke.

Two well known Australian Cricketers have passed in a week.
Shane Warne lived life to the full. Liked a smoke and also a drink.
Have not heard much bad about him in tributes. Got to watch him once playing (cricket) for St Kilda against Essendon at Windy Hill. Interacted with the spectators and signed a lot of autographs, both when fielding (in front of the stand), and while waiting to bat.

Gone to soon.

Sad to hear about both of them, they were both best of their class at their time, and perhaps for all time.

I hear Booney has an appointment with his cardiologist at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.

Absolutely no disrespect intended to the late great S.W. but I thought I'd share this coincidence.

First, it should be remembered that S.W. was, at one time, nicknamed 'Fatty'.
Second, there was an incident during an overseas tour (South Africa? India?) when he was afflicted with a bad case of the 'trots'. There was even some talk that he might have been deliberately infected via his food to affect his performance.

Fast forward a month or so after this incident and I was browsing through a local Book Fair run by the Lions. I spotted a boys annual that I remembered from my childhood as belonging to my older brother. I even recognized the cover after all those years and bought it in a fit of nostalgia.

Now. How did that writer predict the tabloid headline almost half a century in advance?

(P.S. Sorry about the sideways images. Don't know how to cure that.)

Pete, that's a blast from the past! I had that book when I was a kid, and even remember the gist of the story about Fatty.

IIRC, there's also a story about two cyclists riding on a roller-coaster track.

There's nothing wrong with your memory. :U

Apologies once again for the sideways view. I'll try to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Cheers,
Pete

Now, what did I do yesterday??
