I'm Steve from Brisbane southside. I have used this site from time to time and really should have joined long ago.
Speaking of long ago, I was a bit of a bush carpenter in my youth (yards, sheds) but did not get into woodwork as such until the last decade or so, as a strictly amateur DIYer.
So far I've only done simple stuff - workshop storage, plain furniture, box making; just learning skills and setting up a work space. I use a mix of hand tools and power tools (jobsite table saw the most elaborate; no jointers or planers or such).
I want to start a challenging project soon, design and build a tea cabinet from NG Rosewood and Red Cedar. Have most of the timber I need stored away. Hope to learn basic Japanese jointing techniques along the way, instead of just watching the online videos :)
