Hi all. I have a bit of Rubio Monocoat left and have run out of the hardener/ accelerant. Rubio states it takes 4 weeks to cure properly with out it.

I was hoping to use it to Finnish a Christmas present and have been thinking maybe I could mix it up with turps and varnish to make a Danish oil. Can anybody see a problem with that?.

My thinking is that Danish oil is typically varnish, turps and either linseed or Tung oil, which takes a long time to cure on its own anyway?

Yep.

That depends how you apply it.
I normally apply it thick, wait 10 minutes, and buff off as much as possible. It's touch-dry after buffing it off, and fully dry within a few hours.
Keep adding coats (typically with at least a few hours in-between) until you're happy with the finish.
I typically do anywhere between 4 and 8 coats of my own Danish Oil, and then apply Renaissance Wax to finish it off.

So do you think I could substitute the Tung oil for Rubio in the mix and have a finish that will cure within a couple of days?
