I’ve got a 7m x 6m brick wall structure that I am converting into a workshop. Seems pretty clear that there is rising damp in the brickwork, up to about a metre or so from the slab floor. All the paint is flaking off, and the bricks show signs of moisture. Some of the bricks have been pretty soft to drill into and won’t hold an Ankascrew.
I will address the rising damp with an injectable membrane treatment like Techdry, but I am looking to line the walls with something to give the place a cleaner feel. I plan to fit out a couple of walls with base and wall cabinets from an old commercial fitout, and probably do French cleats for a lot of the remaining wall. Just wondering what you would all recommend for that wall lining, and how to best attach it, knowing I want to hang things from the lining and there may be some residual moisture issues from the brickwork.
Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.
