I've lurked on this forum for a while and finally decided this is the one I'd like to join. I've done some woodworking for decades but not seriously because work got in the way. I retired about 4 years ago and have been at it hot & heavy since then. My style, if I can be accused of having one, is mostly hand tool work with machines doing a lot of the grunt work. My skill level is best described as somewhere between a cave man and Yoda, probably more toward the cave man side. My current project is a rocking chair (first attempt). I live in western Washington state and am blessed to have a bit of acreage so it's quiet. I'm a lucky man.

I have questions about scorps since I'm having a difficult time making mine work to carve out the seat in sapele (probably not a wise choice of wood for this project, lot of tear-out). Being a newbie can someone direct me to where I should post my questions? Looking forward to participating. Thanks.

G'Day & Welcome to the Great Southern Land and to a top forum......
There are quite a few members from across the USA and the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Especially a top mob of blokes on the toymaking & scale modeling section of the forum.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.....
Cheers from On Top DownUnder, crowie

Welcome to the forum Benchbum. Your question on the Scorp might be best placed in here (https://www.woodworkforums.com/f10), here (https://www.woodworkforums.com/f187) or if no luck it could go in the general woodwork (https://www.woodworkforums.com/f11) section where most members frequent.
Good luck with your skills improvement, but most of all enjoy the journey.
