Hi all,

My name is Matt, and I am pretty new, although I have been interested in woodworking for a while. I work full time so woodworking is a hobby for me. I do have a few years of carpentry experience from a number of years ago, but I don't work in the industry any longer.

As we are planning a move to Geelong by the end of the year, we have made sure that we can set up a workshop for all my plans and dreams of building just about everything we own - from wardrobes to the kitchen table.

I have not had the luxury of having space for a shop in Melbourne, so I am looking forward to getting set up in the next 6 months or so.

I have been slowly collecting tools and machinery in anticipation of getting set up. Things like hand tools off Facebook marketplace and even a few new DeWalt toys like a table saw (DeWalt was my carpentry choice).

My learning so far has come from YouTube, but I look forward to learning from all the experience on this forum!

Catch you out there,

Matt

Welcome to the forum Matt and we welcome you to Geelong when you make it here. If you want to meet some like minded people, look up BVW (https://bvwoodwrights.com/) when you get settled. Hopefully things will be a little more reliable by then.
Enjoy your tool collecting as you can afford it. It's always fun to get new toys.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Matt"....
There are a stack members around Melbourne and cross Victoria plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.....
Cheers crowie

PS - Watch out for local Melbourne get togethers, great way to meet like minded forum members & network [once lockdown is finished of course]...
