Which Hot knife

Hi all I need to cut 1000's of slits about 500mm long into PP weed matting out in the paddock and just looked on Ebay for hot knifes and found them from $20 to $700 and was confused. Does anyone know what I should look for or need? I don't want something that is going to burnout because of constant use. I also don't want to pay for tools that do things beyond what I need. Was thinking of going cheap to see how good they are and find out what I need by trial and error but thought of this site as I have seen some brilliant suggestions.

A hardware store here in the USA offers the option of an extended warranty protection / replacement plan cheap. I recommend looking for something like that.
