where to buy fine paper for 1/3 sheet sander

Have a 1/3 sheet orbital and am planning to use organoil hard burnishing oil to finish a knife block i have made. The instructions claim you require up to 1200 grit or finer to finish off the process.

Problem I have is finding paper that fine that doesn't fall apart after a couple of minutes work. I have found paper up to about 400 that is designed for orbitals and has a fairly strong backing on it to handle the power, but the only paper finer than that has very flimsy backing, really only suitable for hand work.

I must admit I have only looked at Bunnies, where to next? Any ideas?:confused:

Try automotive paint shops, thats where I get my 2500 grit paper.

A place called Supergrit has a wonderful selection of quality sandpaper at reasonalbe prices my opinion not your ordinary overpriced hardware store paper they even have hard to find sized paper.

I always use wet & dry, after 240grit. the finest I've used is 3000grit. never had any probs with it on an orbital as it's intended use is for metalworking it can take a lot of punishment

I don't want to Pee on your parade but I think you will find that a 1/3 sheet orbital won't work with organoil, you need a ROS or rotary to get the friction and heat happening to burnish the oil.
If you only want to oil the timber just stick with hand application, or try shellac+EEE+Traditional wax, much quicker and a nice finish too.
