Hi Everyone,
My name is Rob. I am a qualified carpenter and have worked with wood all my life. however I am very new to turning and I have to say I am loving it. I am currently farming in regional WA and during the quiet seasons I really enjoy turning bowls and candlesticks in my down time. I have to admit this is the first online forum I have ever joned and am very much looking forward to exchanging support, knowledge and ideas with everybody.

Hi Everyone :)

Welcome Rob,

i agree turning is fun and can even be addictive. I have to control myself because I also have a metal work lathe and that is just as addictive.

Being a bit more specific about your location can be handy - ou might have a nearby member who can help or you can help them.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Rob".....
There are quite a few members in Perth and across West.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork..
Cheers crowie

G'day Rob,

I recently joined too so just getting used to it.
I have been doing a bit of wood turning (not a lot)
also have tried box making on my saw bench .
I have made tables etc also a ships wheel and a wagon wheel.
It gets you like a virus.
I might have to get rid of my sawbench soon as we are downsizing.

Hi Rob
I know of Franks Evans in the </title><link rel="profile" href="https://gmpg.org/xfn/11" /><link rel="pingback" href="https://mandurahwoodturners.com/xmlrpc.php" /> <title>Mandurah Woodturners – Affiliated with the Woodturners Association of Western Australia Inc. (https://mandurahwoodturners.com/)
You might get some advice from them and even contacts from some down south too!
