Hello,

I was talking to a work colleague the other day about tack cloths for finishing wood work, does anyone here use them frequently? what types/brands can you recommend me?

Also, how would you commonly call it? tack rag or tack cloth? thanks!

I use them all the time. Just buy them from the painters supplier store. They work well, especially with clear finishes.

Well this has been enlightening for me. I never realised that you could buy pre-made tack cloths. I've just wet a clean rag with mentholated spirits and wiped jobs down. I thought I may be missing something and so have been down the tack-cloth rabbit hole (I feel like there's a pun to be had there, but it's not coming to me).

I'll be watching with interest.

Microfibre +methylated spirit seems to do the trick for me!

Most paint supply stores will have them. Bunnings, Mitre 10, Supercheap, Auto Barn etc etc.

The last one I picked up was from the local M10. The old guy in the paint shop was very surprised that somebody asked for a tack cloth.

If I recall correctly there is information and a formula for making your own in UBeauts polishers handbook - available at all hood retailers.

Endust on a clean shop towel works best for me.
I've been using Endust for over 15 yrs now and it has
never interfered with my finish applications.
I even use it before car painting.
Try it and you'll be amazed at the dust it pulls out of the grain
even after blowing off with compressed air.
It also removes the static.
