I just sold a couple of lovely old hand saws to scottbr, who generously attributed their condition to my expertise. Unfortunately I can't claim to have had a hand in their refurbishment - the credit goes to Vintage Tool Shop (https://vintagetoolshop.com.au) in Northcote, Melbourne. Scott can say more about the actual saws here if he likes, but I just wanted to leave a general recommendation here for anyone who might not know about the shop.
They have a decent online shop, but much more in store too. Mike who owns the shop is knowledgeable and great to deal with. I still have some other (massive) saws from VTS - I only sold the others because I happened upon some Lie Nielsen & Bad Axe upgrades.
The saws in their online shop at the moment are particularly expensive, but I've bought 5 or so from them over time that have been in the range of $100-160. That may not appeal to those of us who can buy something for $20 and rehab it, but considering their expert labour, shopfront costs etc, it's great value to me. There are few (if any?) similar places in Australia, so I reckon they're worth supporting!
