I dabbled with wood for a few years before the kids (3) came along. Never really developed any skills, mostly used construction type lumber to build things I could not afford to buy new. I recently retired from full time employment and am hoping to develop some skills that I now have the time to learn. I recently bought a old cast iron Dunlap lathe that is in need of a rebuild and a motor. I have a 1\2 horsepower DC motor and variable speed controller that I am going to fit to it. Then it's time to start learning how to do wood turning. Looking forward to making a big pile of shavings.

Lovely part of the country, my old stomping ground, I stay in West Chester and go to Maple Grove Raceway. If we ever get over this China bug and I get back over I will look you up.
Rgds,
Crocy.

G'Day & Welcome to the Great Southern Land and to a top forum "Johnnie".
There are quite a few members from across the USA and the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Especially a top mob of blokes on the toymaking & scale modeling section of the forum.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.....
Cheers from On Top DownUnder, crowie
