Repair Damaged Floorboards with fallen object

Hi there,

We just moved into a house with polished floorboards. On setting up the sound system one speaker fell on it's corner and left a nasty dent in the floor, say 5mm wide, 1mm deep and it looks like the wood fibres may have broken. Is there any hope for some type of repair? I read in some situations putting some water in the dent, covering with a towel or paper towel and putting an iron over it can lift the wood. I also read with polish you may need to prick a couple of holes in it so the water can penetrare. Would that be an option or will it need some professional repair?

Also, what about small dents on a wood panelling wall? Could the iron trick work here since it's vertical?

I think that the research you've done has given you the best answer. But dont prick holes on the floor finish, scrape the hole clean, soak boiling water to steam out thebdemysteam or touch up with the smallest, pooledblayger of shade matching polyethylene based floor varnish after the wood has been toughed to fill into hole. Or fill the hole with colour matched practical from therewith. poly floor varnish, or a different veneer thickness.Or remove a short piece of board from under a skirting board, cut a hole filler scrap piece. then glue to fill the hole, and sand flat to the rest of the boards.

My lazy and "she'll be good" with an enforceable environmental formed would be to fill in the hole with the same lazy, glue treatment. Clear setting epoxy would be my photo,should do. Over a floor, a glue fill is probably best, then expect aware.
