Same mob,
DomainName.com.au
Sent us a fax, this is how it starts,

"As a coutresy to domain name holders we are sending you this notification so that you may extend the registration of your domain name with us before it expires."

I conclude they are trying to trick com.au domain holders with bogus accounts to (near if not) identical named dotcom websites. I think they may trap a few people into thinking their domain is about to expire, so they pay up.

ausmade.com seems to be owned by a 3rd party,
we own ausmade.com.au

I am going to the media about this which I construe to be attempted fraud.
Dunno whether to give it to the cops or the pollie's as well.
Comments invited as to the best course.

Send it to both, the police probably wont do anything (lack of resources..), but if enough people harrass our poli's maybe they will do something about them. Though I believe this is just a new bent on the old trade directory scam.

I reckon Office of Fair Trading would be the go.

Gra,

Lack of resources is a term coined by lazy coppers in places like Warrandyte (and Cobram;)). It's not for the police to investigate. It's the Office of Fair Trading who follow up on these scams.

ausmade.com seems to be owned by a 3rd party,

Nothing too sinister I suspect as it's been owned by them for a couple of years.

But the office of fair trading is the go!

We need to do what we can to stamp the blighters out.

cheers,
