Its east of Broken Hill, but not too far east. Forget surfing, but be prepared to be politicaly correct as there are quite a few of our Indigenous population there.

West of Sydney, East of Perth.
Bloody hot.
Only reason it exists is the mine.
Lots and Lots and Lots of traditional owners there

Check this out, though it doesn't have a map, it has a run-down of everything else
If you google "Cobar" you will get links to map sites.

You'll need your surfboard, your water skis, all your surf fishing gear ... oh, and your snow suit and your warm, wooly PJs and ... :p
Put it this way mate, when they position mines, they like to make sure the workers really suffer - Cobar fitted that requirement perfectly
Oh, and location? It's north of Tassie:p

Wouldn't the best way to keep him in the dark be to shove him in a cupboard an not speak to him??
Sorry, newbie :p I don't get it, but I'm gonna shutup now......

Bit more detail than Davids post. If you want a night on the town you could always slip up to Bourke

Richard, I really hate to be the one to break this to you, but along with a few of us (me included) you do have something of a credibility gap.:D

Where the blazes is Cobar New South Wales? :eek:well it's about
3hrs 50mins drive east of Broken Hill – assuming you don't stop for fuel at Wilcannia and can maintain an average speed of about 120 km/h
7 hours west of the middle of Sydney – assuming your stops total less than 30 minutes and you can maintain an open road speed of about 105 km/h
a tank an a half of fuel from Sydneyor it was when I was driving that route about 25 years ago. Used to leave Broken Hill at midday and get into Sydney 11 hours later having stopped for fuel at Cobar and Dubbo.
But it was critical to time the trip to miss the traffic over the Blue Mountains.
Today, I'd fly and spend the time saved doing something more productive!

Nobody in their right mind would stop in Wilcannia (or Bourke, or Cobar, or Nyngan for that matter) . Good places to fly over!

Ditto Oz Winner, My sister actually lives on a remote station a few hundred K's from Willcannia, but she actually fills the tank to the brim so she can go through Willcannia and shop in Broken Hill!
She won't stop in Willcannia for any reason without her husband, and he doesn't like going there either :(
I stopped in Willcannia for fuel only once, and I got hit up to do a drug run to Adelaide within 2 minutes of stopping!
I have walked the streets of Cobar at night without even noticing any trouble, though I was a teen at the time, and didn't go near the pubs ;)

Its also east of Wilcania ... west of the Great Divide :D:D
When I was there in 1974, they had a nice cinema - no roof, and canvas hammocks for seats. The proud owner gave me a guided tour.
