Newbie tool-rack area

Just a very newbie post of what felt like an adventure-some staining in Brisbane.

I have made a workbench and basic French cleat tool hanging area where I am trying to set up a little work area in my garage (an alcove near where car fits).

I had been watching a lot of Youtube videos and reading, and ended up buying Feast Watson timber primer and stains from Bunnings. I did not know whether they were best quality or value for money but could not find much information specific to Brisbane. I go to Carbatec for some items but they did not seem to stock much stains.

I stained the backing board Black Japan and the cleats in Walnut (base is plywood that I think is hoop pine).

Pretty happy with outcome (I intend on extending the panels to each side so it wraps around)!

Keen for any suggestions for improvement or constructive criticism! I really don't know what I'm doing although I felt this did dodge the "plywood nailed to wall" basic feel.

Looks great. Just some advice though, never leave the cordless tool batteries in the charger without it being plugged in, the circuitry in the charger will drain the battery down past it’s lowest level and render it useless eventually. Just remove them from the charging unit, they’ll last for years with the right care.

I did make that little cordless cubby with a shelf for sticking the batteries but haven't been using it well. I was intending on making some kind of hooks or hangar to "holster" the drills.
