Hi! I'm Jess.
I am new here and in the world of wood turning.
I dont have a Lathe yet as I want to start with a second hand one to see how I go and get the basics before I can put a proper budget for me on it.

Problem is I don't find any second hand wood turning lathe in my area.

I'd like to find a teacher as well to get the basics.

Does anyone live in Darwin NT area?
I live in Girraween and I read on a australian woodturners group that everyone in Darwin hide in here ;)

I can't wait to start wood turning and learn to know you guys.

Have a beautiful Sunday!
Cheers

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Jess".
There are a few members in NT plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.
Cheers crowie

Stay away from the weak hollow tube framed units, My current one is from presumably some kinda engineering student. Great head #2 morse taper similar on tail stock. Needs a better bed -3mm x25 x25 Obviously what was there. But thicker better.

Welcome to the forum Jess. We have one member on here from Darwin but he hasn't been on since Feb this year but you could always try PM'ing him to see if you can make contact. He is Rum Pig (https://www.woodworkforums.com/members/14816-rum-pig) and what I know of him he is mainly into pen turning.
