Hi guys
My friend has a piece of quality marri furniture which is now six years old and up until recently had virtually no gum vein markings. Strangely enough, gum markings typical of marri timber have recently appeared after six years. The furniture is still situated in the same position. It is not receiving any extra sunlight and my friend has never used any cleaning product on it. In fact he only applied its first treatment of beeswax recently after discovering the marks. Has anyone got any opinion or ideas as to why this would occur? I would appreciate your help with this one.
thanks
Gibby

G'day Gibby.

and my friend has never used any cleaning product on it.

Nothing at all in 6 years..... Nothing, not even a wipe down after use with maybe a damp cloth or spounge with maybe a bit of warm soapy water in it.

Strangely enough, gum markings typical of marri timber have recently appeared after six years.

As a rule it's pretty hard to miss the gum veins in Marri as they are so often really in-ya face. Have they been hidden beneath a stain or are the viens erupting or breeding out.

Is there any chance of a photo or two?
Photo(s) might help somewhat.
May also help to know what sort of finish is on the table.
Putting beeswax on it might not help with the problem but could compound it somewhat.

Talking to the manufacturer (if known) might also be of some help. Bear in mind that many manufacturers have little to no idea of finishing or upkeep other than giving it a coat of lacquer. Some will oil or wax it and call it finished which isn't always the best long term result. Especially on timber that's prone to gum inclusions with the chance of weeping.

Any further info that can be provided could be of help.
