Silky oak drinks trolley

Working on this drinks trolley and its missing one of the end posts for the rail. Any one have any ideas where I can find one ?

I would suggest you find a local men’s shed with a metal lathe.
Or a model engineer or something.
That does not look a complicated part to machine,
You could probably even do it on a drill press(look up turning on a drill press)in aluminium then have it coated.

Second hand dealers and junk shops often accumulate a supply of left over pieces. I usually start with with our local antiques dealer (but we're too far from Melbourne for you to go to him!)

Some modern drawer pulls are approximately that shape, but would not be exact. If you were happy with an approximate equivalent you could try that. But turning one would be the best.

Finding one would be nice but would take a lot of searching .

One place to go is Graeme Brown Antiques (http://www.gbrownantiques.com.au/) .
There is something similar on page 24 of the Hardware catalogue but its not as good a match .

If you had one turned Id say you then have to take it to be Chrome plated by the looks . More running around .

What Id consider is to turn one from a close grained hardwood and try some silver paint . Swap it with one of the lower ones and see if its that noticeable. The paint could be worse than just leaving it timber . Looks like there was only two end ones at the start so doing the swap leaves a hole in one side when its put up top .

These are a pretty standard design for these sorts of trollies, so thrift shops and secondhand stores would be the first place to go. As Matt suggested if you could find someone with a lathe this could be made easily; and if it was done in stainless there would be no need to chrome it.

Thanks one and all. I am not in any hurry so I will do a bit of searching before I resort to turning it. Thanks for that link Rob they have a pretty decent range. I have bought a bit of stuff from Sneddons in the past
