Hi guys wondering if anyone can suggest a finish for some door handles that I'm making.

I'm turning some round indoor door handles out of American Black Walnut. Looking for a hard setting (if there is such a thing), high gloss finish. I'm just getting into wood working and a little overwhelmed with all the different brands and types. I'm concerned over the finish wearing out from frequent handling especially if someone slides their ring over.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Rustins plastic Coating, although any finish will wear over time.

A two pack epoxy like “Glasscoat” would give you the high gloss hard wearing finish you’re after, but if it got damaged the only way to repair it is to completely strip it down and reapply.

As you’re turning these maybe a multi layered CA finish would be suitable?
