Welcome to the forum, not many fiddle with guitars here but I’m one who does! I started building this time last year and am now addicted. I mainly focusing on four strings at the moment. There is a dedicated forum on hear under the heading of musical instruments, jump in and post up some pics of what you do, I would love to see your work!
Cheers Cal

Hi Cal, it certainly is an addiction. Especially timber selection.
I've jumped in looking for Australian made guitar hardware.
Just added a few photos now, very similiar process to an airbrush forum I'm in, so no hassle there.

Welcome to the forum Kirby,
Like Cal said there are a few on here messing about with wood and strings as we gradually teach ourselves to make instruments. The musical instrument section also has some pretty fine luthiers if you take a look back through whats been posted over the years. The forum overall is a truly great gathering of woodwork knowhow.
Regards
John

Nice work there KirbyMD! Nice flame, quite a unique looking guitar.

I'm trying to think of which guitar style it reminds me of, but it's a credit to you that I can't. A bit here, a bit there. But yours is pretty original.

I'd love to learn how to build a guitar. Obviously not an overnight thing... But you've gotten me thinking...

Cheers!

Thanks Smoj,

if i can inspire you to create a guitar that isn't a strat, tele or lp then my work here is done.:)
Most of the guitars I'm building are original shapes, designs I've been kicking around for awhile but never had the workshop space to start production until now.
I think every guitarist should build at least one guitar themselves.....
If you want to have some fun, study a few guitar plans and pencil in your own design around the electrics, see what you come up with!.

Give me time... Hopefully I'll get there eventually.
It'd be a bass for me. I'd be proud as hell if I could put one together that ended up half as nice as yours.
I'm looking at my dodgy old bass right now, and thinking I could start by cleaning that one up, reworking it a little as a small step in that direction at least.
Cheers for the inspiration.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum.
There are quite a stack members around Brisbane and cross South East Queensland plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork......
