Reading the forum with Tapatalk on an iPad and have started getting a problem with the wrong thread being displayed. Tonight i tried to open ‘Picked up a machine’ from the unread tab and ‘The
Iittle shelf’ was displayed. The wanted thread had gone when I went back to the list.
Switched to new posts and tried again with the same outcome. It is not happening all the time but enough to annoy. Tried killing the app but that did not help.
Anyone else?

Yes. Was thinking it was just me. Also happens on other forums as well.
As multiple forums was guessing it is Tapatalk.

Yep .... been happening to me for a little while now. First few times I was thinking it was my fat fingers but it’s happening regularly enough for it to be a big.
Interestingly I search by unread posts, even after the wrong post opens the unread post I was hoping to read has dropped off the unread post list.

Happened to me too, I deleted Tapatalk and reinstalled it. Working fine now.

Thanks Cal. Good suggestion - should have thought of that. It seems to be behaving itself since I posted (a faintly unsettling fact) but something I will try if it misbehaves in future.

Mine seem ok since re logging in. Give that a go before re installing.

I don't own an iPad but would think that there shouldn't be a need for Tapatalk to be showing the forums on anything other than a phone.
Even then you might do better with the forums "Default Mobile Style" which can be changed via the drop down style menu bottom left side of all screens.
Tapatalk and mobile devices have some inherent problems, with, and for, most forums. Not the least of which, being the loss of revenue which keeps most forums up and running. Many smaller forums have closed over the last few years due to the spreading use of Tapatalk and mobiles.

Raising the problem here seems to have been enough as the problem has seemingly vanished.

I get advertisements when using Tapatalk. Are the payments from these ads going to Tapatalk or the forum? If not the forum I will have to switch to using a browser so I am supporting the forum.

I was not aware that apps like Tapatalk were effectively hijacking the forum income. For some reason, I assumed that the redirection when you opened the forum was endorsed by the forum owners. I am a bit annoyed now that this recommendation is misleading, but I don’t know how to turn it off.

This is intrusive and persistent and it seems to be aimed at directing traffic and revenue to the apps. Not fair play I say! I think I will delete the app on the iPad at least. As you say, it is better on the mobile phone, but that too could be improved if the mobile mode allowed easy access to the activity stream or new posts - in my opinion at least.
I have had a look at the ’mobile mode’ on the iPad but I think the full site mode is better. I could not find how to see the new posts or activity stream in mobile mode, just a long list of sub-forums.

The forums get nothing from ads on Tapatalk all the revenue from them goes to Tapatalk.
Nor do we get anything from any of the ad banners shown on here unless they are used. So having ad blockers installed doesn't help the forums either.
We do get payment for the side banner and forum sponsor ads or a number of them as quite a few are contra, ie: swapped for such things as free forum advertising in magazines, work done for forums and similar.
Combined revenue currently pays around 40% of the cost of keeping the forums up and running, the rest is on me.
