I've been noticing this ad recently, and could imagine it raising eyebrows if these forums are accessed in a school setting.
If the mods know and approve, then no problem. Just a heads-up. 442943

I don’t wish to cast aspersions but aren’t the ads generally targeted loosely based off past internet usage/searches?
I tend to use Adblock so don’t get ads but I have noticed on my wife’s iPad that she tends to get ads based around search history .... such as recommendations for holiday destinations and the like.

No aspersions taken I don't have a wife, and I'm not searching for one.
Plus, I use Firefox and have it set to clear history each time I quit.
Maybe because I have posted about dovetailing drawers, and they have misinterpreted "drawers"?

I'm the only one that uses my laptop. Most of the time the ads are whatever I was recently researching/buying but I occasionally get some fairly crude ones in the bottom right corner and across the top that are definitely not related to my searches now or ever!

School needs to redefine it's criteria for blocking site. Probably blocked because a search brought up words like screw, screwing or some other really bad thing like, nailed or tongue n grove, etc.

You hit the nail right on top of the head. Ads are all contextual that basically means they are targeted at your search history or sites visited. The ad(s) shown are targeted to you only and not seen by others.
If you had a new computer that had not been used for searches or visiting other sites and you logged into WWF you would see ads targeted as closely as possible to what you were viewing or searching on the forums.
On a computer that's had lots of searches done and visits to many different sites the ads would usually be targeted to what searches were done recently on that computer or sites recently visited on that computer.
I have targeted banners from explicit adult content site blocked from showing on the forums. Did this many years ago after lots of complaints about "Inappropriate banners ads" showing on the site. They only showed to those who had been searching for or visiting those sites, but because of the number of complaints from those people I had them blocked as it made it look like the forums were being populated by banners for those sites and not the individuals.
If you see a banner for an adult or inappropriate site then it is your own fault or that of someone else using your computer. Not the fault of the forums.
It is almost impossible to block all inappropriate Google ads from being shown without basically losing the bulk of the income from Google.
If I had my way I would reinstall the adult content banners because the income from them was largely responsible for keeping the forums on line. Since they came off the loss of income from has meant that I have been largely financially responsible for keeping the forums running.

I use Firefox and have it set to clear history each time I quit.
Deleting history etc doesn't delete that history from Google's memory banks, only from your computer and even then, if someone really wished to find that history on your computer they would be able to.
