Hi, my name is Michael. I live in suburban Adelaide.

I signed up to this forum many years ago, but haven't been active due to young kids.
Now that they are older I am starting to be able to do things with them, including woodworking.

My background is in mechanical engineering, so I have a reasonable grasp of CAD, CNC tools etc, but I've always enjoyed woodworking.
Something to do with the way in which every piece of wood is unique and responds differently to different tools, climactic conditions etc. perhaps?

I only have a single garage to work in, so my space is limited. Budget is also limited, so I seem to spend much of my time at the moment making my own tools/benches/enclosures, jigs etc. But I enjoy that too :U. Eventually I want to get around to making a couple of ukuleles, a wooden clock, and a chessboard to go with self-cast pewter pieces (not necessarily in that order).

I look forward to becoming more active on these forums. A great resource!

Cheers,

M.

Hi Michael, welcome to a top forum from another South Aussie. Start hoarding the Pewter when you can find it, it's becoming quite scarce.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Michael".
There are quite a few members around Adelaide and cross Sth Aust plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork......
