I have become involved with my brother in law who is replacing the bench tops in the kitchen.
The new tops will be laminated but have solid timber (Walnut) edges, rounded over.
One of these timber edges passes in front of the sink area and will experience water contact while the whole area will have sunlight exposure at some time during the day.
He was keen to us a polyurethane finish such as Instant Estapol or Cabothene. I have reservations as I have used polyurethane in a kitchen in the past with some dissapointment. Problems such as yellowing and breakdown in steamy areas cause me some worry.
Can the smarties out there offer any suggestions for a durable finish that can be easily applied to the edges once they are installed in the kitchen.
