Before I look at a plan to clean, repair and protect this I need some help knowing what it is. The main body has a handle and is made of copper and glass (needing repairs). Inside are 2 shelves with the lower one having a half door for further storage below. There are smaller containers and a lantern to clip on to the main body. Having lived in Asia for so long I keep thinking it's like a portable food warmer and storage unit. I'm probably totally wrong. Can you help me identify it? I didn't even have an idea for Googling.

Kinda reminds me of a compass binnacle but I have never seen one quite like that. In asia things usually took a slightly different form. Small boat binnacles often were portable with a handle and usually had a lamp in the side so you can steer using the compass at night. They are always made of a non magnetic material. That said there are loads of knock off items that look a bit like old navigational instruments out there. Anyhoo thats my 2c worth of ramble for today.

John
