My name is James and I live in Townsville, North Queensland. I served 20 + years in the military and was retired medically. Woodwork to me is therapeutic, it's about creating something or just fixing something and making it stronger and better.

If you asked my wife about five years ago if I could knock something up with a hammer and nails she would have just laughed her head off. My first attempt just to put a bracket up for the clothes dryer ended up with a wall full of holes and hinges on the kitchen cupboards were just as bad. I reckon I nearly failed 'Shop' in High School.

Then a couple of years ago I have no idea what happened, but it did.

Now I have made a bench seat for a fire pit, a circular seat to go around an old tree in our yard, and a few other things. I absolutely love it.

What I am actually chasing is plans for a hobbyist. Like a wooden windmill for the garden or those animal spinners.

Does anyone know where I can download diagrams, etc??

Welcome to the forum James.
As Ray said Google search plans and also youtube has loads of how to do things. If you are stuck with anything woodworking wise there will likely be some good answers on this forum.

John

Hello James
Welcome to the forum. I suggest you take a look in your local newsagent. There are three
australian magaznes that I know of, they are:
Australian Wood Review, Australian woodworker and the Australian Woodsmith.

These all have plans for projects in every issue.
Good Luck
Gerard

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "James",
There are a good few members in FNQ plus the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
On the specific questions you've asked, may I suggest a new thread in the "general woodworking" section.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork, yes great stress relief...
Cheers crowie
