Apart from fruits and a few greens and root vegetables, vegetarians have to be able to light fires as most vegetables have to be cooked to be digested so that sufficient nutrition is obtained. OTOH meat and fat does not have to be cooked to be digested. That's apparently how pre-fire man developed a bigger brain.
