Hi,

Just a quick question for anyone who may be an old (or new) hand at plastering. I have never gyprocked before but I would like to fix up a couple of nail holes, dents and scratches around the house. I went and bought some gyprock and put nail holes in it and hit it a couple of times with the hammer to practice on before doing the real thing.

The problem I have is after laying on four coats very thin, sanding off with a damp sponge (as per suggestion on forum) and generally getting a really good finish the hole or dent outline is still very visible through the plaster. I am wondering if the plasterboard paint primer will cover that up or maybe I am not doing it right. Any suggestions?
Cheers

Try using a straight edge while sanding, so you’re not taking to much off.

For a Straight edge,
I often use a 6" S/Steel ruler.
It's my scraper, cleaner, screwdriver, whatever.
You can use these on edge and give them a VERY slight curve in, or out sothat you will have a slight amount of material to sand.
OK! You could use anything with a "straight" edge.
