Hi,
Can anyone clarify if it is a possum(s) that have been doing their business on our weatherboards, or is it another pest that has done it?
Thanking those in advance for their replies:2tsup:
Cheers

My guess is it might be birds.

Possum poo is pellets which you would find on the ground below that white pipe, and is almost always olive green. What you have there is the fairly typically liquid lunch that birds squirt out, and that varies in colour with what they have eaten.

To get rid of them, a strip of timber with nails poking through will do the job. Glue or strap (or both) into place. Timber about 25mm wide and 6mm thick should do it. You might even be able to buy some kind of ready made strip with sharp things pointing up.

Like "smooth edge" the strips that carpet layers nail down and use to hold the carpet down. Any carpet place/layer will give you a few if you ask.

Sometimes they won't "give" as it's about $7.00 a length, that's what I paid for some a few weeks ago. Makes a great support for painting small stuff on, as it's supported by the "nails".

+1 for birds, for me the key indicator is the down pipe. They probably roost at night and do their business. Possibly pigeons???
Perhaps do a night patrol before retiring and have a look. If birds then you will need to deny them the perch. There are commercial strips with wire spikes in a "V" formation which can often be seen on commercial buildings which seem to work pretty well. A possible DIY could be to run a few strands of high strength fishing line along the pipe, I suggest high strength because you would need to string it with high tension. Just a thought.

Grease works wonders at stopping birds.

I have a few resident Possis in my shed. Yes they can make a mess but I can live with it. Remember back in the Vietnam War days.....we got up to date coverage of the fighting going on on the nightly TV news. Remember those images of B52s emptying their huge load of bombs out in a messy group?....well thats the same method possis do their dump. Huge amount and all at once. How do I know....close observation or should I say close shave

Hi,
Firstly thanks to everyone who replied to my post:wink:. Secondly, fortunately I haven't had anymore poo dropped since the post - maybe we have fallen off their radar. I will paint the guttering in the next week or two then pop up to Bunnings and have a look at what items they have that are suitable to prevent it being a permanent toilet seat!!
