Why do we call it a "tuna-fish" sandwich?
If we do that we might as well be consistent and also say "chicken-bird" sandwich

Why do we call it a "tuna-fish" sandwich?
the main reason
to reinforce to ourselves that it the meat is fish and not part mammal. The dolphin by-catch used to end up in the cans of tuna. You don't have a similar problem with chicken -- any foxes in the hen house run away when you go to catch the chook you're going to eat.

Who calls it a tuna-fish sandwich anyway? Americans? I haven't heard an Aussie say it before. I do like my tuna sandwiches though.... damn, now I'm hungry.
