I have a gun that got a bit wet at the last shoot. It looks like an oil finish and I'm thinking of using penetrol to refinish it. Has anyone tried this? I'm looking for something that will take a bit of use, resist the ravages of weather and look good. I'm not into a high gloss finish as I wuite like the satin oiled look.

my mate use to finish his with a product that I believe was just called "gun stock oil" , I reckon it was from the local guns & ammo store , seemed pretty similar to Danish oil !

when I was back on the farm we used gun oil every time you clean the gun just wipe the stock with the cleaning cloth

Ballistol - comes in spray cans & regular bottles > 1 ltr. Use it on metal, wood & leather, doesn't gum up, doesn't atract water (like WD40 does if left around). Mitre10 either stock it or can get it.
