How are the Saints doing this year? I can't work any of it out from here. :D

The season finished after the last home & away match. They have cancelled the finals because crowds would be down and nobody gives a stuff after the Pies didn't get in.

The ladder looked like this at the end of the season. The bottom of the ladder is such a beautiful site. Should happen like this every year. The Saints are favourites for the flag. As long as the neither of the Adelaide teams get in the GF, I'll be happy. The Saints, The Swans and The Cats haven't had a premiership for so long that it's about time one of them won.

Adelaide
West Coast
Sydney
Saints
Kangaroos
Geelong
Melbourne
Port Adelaide
Bulldogs
Fremantle
Brisbane
Richmond
Essendon
Hawthorn
Collingwood
Carlton

'Tis a funny thing...

The last time I actively followed the footy, Dieterich was the Saints' star and Jezza the Blues' best.

The last time I bothered watching a match, nancy boy Capper had just started prancing around in shorts so tight we could see he'd had his tonsils out.

I've no idea who's doing what nowadays, half the clubs I remember don't exist and the new ones are just places on the map to me. Considering past trends, I imagine they're all running around in G-strings now?

Yet the moment I saw those rolls, it made my day. Old hatreds last forever... put me down for a crate! :D

Grunt, that's a beautiful thing.

Mainly seeing Carlton all the way down there. Warms the cockles of my heart that does. :D

Might actually have to hunt down somewhere to watch it this year. Usually don't care (or know) what happens, but I might make an exception this time. ;)

The seasons come and go but the Spirit of Collingwood still rules supreme.

Not like those supporters who only become visible if they are winning. Oh no us Pies supporters are just as obnoixious win or loose. Comes from being the best, win or loose.

I've followed the Pies since I was 14.
I have not watched a Collingwood game since the first match of last year.
It breaks my heart to watch them fold when it gets tough.
It seems at the moment that it is a lack of heart, which is a shame cause we supporters are not suffering from a lack of heart.
So now I just listen to what ever game in on the ABC Grandstand, so long as it doesn't invlove the Pies.
Shame.

Sell it to their loyal members.:D :D
and
Sell it to their enemies too, so even enemies will financially support the C.F.C.

Be proud, sure we are in a sad state and it's dissappointing to see them lose but look at the injuries etc. The game is so close now that the AFL has unfairly stuck up these interstate teams that to even have one player out is a major problem. It's more who can last all year with a full team rather than which team is the best.

I've been to every Collingwood Grand Final since I went as a little bloke with my Dad in 1964 ! (Been a member, social club and all that stuff).

I've seen 11 GF's for ONE bl**dy win ! Loses by 1 point, 4 points, 10 points and 80 points. I've been there , done that. I've walked across that damn footbridge after some of those games bawling my little eyes out (inc 2003  )

I figure after all that I have earned the right to be critical.

The current list is the worst in the league. They get a few wins , big heads and all the pain starts again. They play beyond themselves and fail when it counts most like in 2002 (Tarrant is a classic example). Until they get rid of about 10 who wouldn't get a game elsewhere, get another champ like Bucks has been, they won't improve. Look at all the hype around Travis Cloke. I mean, please, settle down, he hasn't done a thing yet and they pump him up like this. No wonder we don't ever get anywhere.

rant mode off

But I still am Collingwood forever, and so are my kids.

But we go through this and we are still Pies Supporters, Loyalty!
It's easy to crow when your teams going strong, but those who crow loudest seem to dissappear when the going gets tough. Pick up a rock, htere is probably a Richmond supporter hiding there.
Pies supporters love the abuse, makes us even more proud to be the Best!

If Sydney wins we can play the grand Final it as a prelim game for the Footscray District Under 16's final, might get a bit of a crowd then?

Didn't you just say Collingwood supporters weren't bitter and twisted?

It'll be a full house regardless who plays. Sydney has a lot of support in Melbourne. I seem to remember when Collingwood played in the 2 GFs against Brisbane most people in Melbourne supported Brisbane because the couldn't stand the thought of Collingwood winning. There are far too many Pies supporters. There is no escape.

bennylaird
14th September 2005, 03:27 PM
Never said we weren't bitter and twisted just loyal to the cause lol.

The trouble with being a Pies supporter is that I'll never get into a Grand Final. By the time all the corporate seats etc are doled out there is no room for lowly supporters who turn up every week during the season. Nah just a venue for the big wigs.....

See bitter and twisted all over lol.

Carn the Sainters..........(for now) [still haven't gotten over that 1 point win of theirs, we was robbed]

He does run Collingwood   He's the president.

FWIW I think Eddie (painful though he is) is great for the game. He has almost single handedly saved several Victorian clubs.
