Ihave been looking for a replacement smoke detector/alarm.
240v hardwired with lithium battery backup. Hush button. Test button. Connectivity to other units.
Has to be up to Aus Std 3786?? Name brand preferred, HPM CLIPSAL BROOKS etc.
Anyone bought them recently or recommend a particular item.

Sparky/fire system tech here - Clipsal range are great quality and I believe they have some with lithium batteries. Never used HPM but if thier other electrical gear is anything to go by... I wouldn't recommend it. Brooks detectors were renowned for false alarming and failing. Used to be a very lucrative after hours job for me as one contract we had demanded Brooks detection. Rarely a night would go by that I didn't have to head out and change one.

Depending on the layout of your house, i recommend mixing up photo-optical and ionization detection then have them interconnected. They both have pros and cons depending on the fire type.

Hope that helps
