H4 treated pine,if cut, does it retain its rating? or what do you do?

I need to get some H4 treated pine for garden edging that will be slightly in the ground about 50mm, if I cut it to size, will that end have to be treated with something again to stop it rotting and getting termites or not??
if so what do I use??
