Can't see any reason why you shouldn't be getting notifications other than not being logged in.
Has anyone else noticed the same problem?
Are you accessing the site via www.woodworkforums.com.au? If so use www.woodworkforums.com without the au. You could also try clearing your cache, other than that I can't think of anything else.
If you still have a problem please let me know.

I haven't received daily notifications since 12 and 13 June. I just unsubscribed/resubscribed yesterday but nothing came today.
I presumed the daily service was stopped.
I have however received replies to posts, and likes.

Thanks for the try.
I have just checked my profile and settings, and they all appear to be in order, including my email address, which in any case I know is working because I receive all thread messages except the daily update.
I note that I am also set to receive a "weekly newsletter" - is there such a thing? If so I don't receive that either.
PS Just checked my ISP email settings, and there was a setting there to delete spam - I have just changed that to tag it instead and send it to my junk mail folder. So we'll see tomorrow whether that fixes things. My ISP is iinet, which is a pretty big supplier, so i'm surprised that others wouldn't also be affected if they are deleting things as spam.

If it is iinet seeing it as spam it may be that the metalwork forum has a smaller delivery list, and so escapes being viewed as spam?

When we got a new email server a couple or so of years ago we were allocated one that unbeknown to us had been used extensively for spamming and was black listed all over the place. Couldn't change it and were on probation for around 6 mths because of that. We passed with flying colours but it is possible that some servers may still see mail-outs from us as spam. I very much doubt it, but you never know.
WWF sends out an absolutely massive amount of emails per day with updates, birthday greetings, notifications, etc, etc.
MWF sends out but a minute fraction of the amount WWF does so that could account for you getting MWF info but not WWF. But who knows.
I can't find any problems and other than you two there hasn't been an outcry from the masses which still makes me think that it's something at your end or local to you, possibly auto deletes from your service provider, or security settings are too high. Even an auto program upgrade or similar may have effected the way messages are being received.
Still waiting to see if anyone else has thew same problem. To date that's a no.
Cheers - Neil :U
PS Just out of curiosity.... Are you using an iThing (iMac, ipad, iPhone, or any other sort of apple thing) or are you using IBM/Microsoft/clone of some sort.

Last first a PC desktop Neil. I have no problems getting notifications fro another forums that would easily send out as much if not more. I will say I have no idea if they were blacklisted.
Interesting that would mean the listing would have to effect numerous ISP's not to mention large variety of email specific ie: yahoo?, bigpond?
I was sure I saw others mention similar hassles in another thread but can't locate it. I had tried when starting this one.
Oh well things have slowed to a ducks waddle on the forum not much happening, where once "Todays Posts" was 6 pages worth its lucky to be 3 or even 2.
What I found strange about it all was I was still getting notifications of "Likes" etc then nothing at all.
Chrism3
21st September 2016, 04:05 PM
Well, it's been two days since I changed my ISP spam setting to tag instead of delete, and nothing's come through as spam.
I still get all likes and other thread messages. Just not daily updates. (or the weekly newsletter if there is one). So unless you are using a different sending email address for different product I'm struggling to see what I can do at my end to rectify things.

Big Shed, I don't think it explains much at all from a technical perspective. I have three email addresses, and I have now tried all of them in turn, and none of them deliver the updates, although all of them deliver me normal thread messages. I have a support request in with my ISP, but as i cannot be the only iiNet member of the Forum, I'm struggling to see how they could be blocking the daily and weekly updates. BTW, none has yet confirmed that there is a weekly update sent out - I queried this in the dialogue above.
I don't think you really know how many people are in a similar boat - finding the right place to post on this subject wasn't easy for me - and then there are warnings about posting in the right place. I was looking for a stream called admin difficulties or the like.
(Please realise that i'm not complaining about assistance since posting.)

Correct, we can't know unless people report problems. So far that has been a total of 2, since then 1 has solved the problem his end. You are reporting you are still having problems, so that leaves 1.
Without trying to belittle your problem, wouldn't you think that if the problem was at the forum end we would see a lot more reports from people?
And to the best of my knowledge there is no weekly update being sent, we did send out a forum update for a little while and copped a lot of grief from members who called it spamming.
As for finding it hard to know where to go for help with a forum problem, fair go, look at the title of this sub-forum and where it is located on the forums page.

As I stated earlier Fred I could not find the other thread which a few others had posted they to where having the same problem.
I guess if I change it back and it still doesn't work them possibly its a yahoo problem but why? Its only recent well in the last few months? It didn't effect both notifications and Likes together either.?
I agree with Chrism3 if we were both using the same ISP & the same email such as yahoo or gmail or bigpond but we are not by the sounds of things. I also went through everything before even posting to see if I had changed settings I could not find a thing.
When I did change the email address hit SAVE down the bottom all of a sudden all my old and new notifications came up. :? Yep linked to my user handle that I can understand.
I will change email addy back to see what happens.

I'm prepared to give this a rest since I'm the last man standing (out). The only way it is ever going to be resolved is via a conversation between our Guru and my ISP, and I don't know how to arrange that, and don't like taking up any more valuable time. Someone somewhere introduced a change around 13 June which affected me - all was well until then. Who knows, maybe some day there will be another change and all will come back!

Chrism3

I changed it about 45 minutes before 10.23. Is that long enough to get into the daily mailing list, or did i need to change it sooner?
It's my wife's gmail account, and since all other forum messages are coming through I don't want to leave it on that address any longer than I have to.

If you bring up a forum, near the top right you will see a "Forum Tools" button. Under that is a menu that includes "Subscribe to this forum".
Once that is done you should receive a daily update of threads posted to the forum.
But it doesn't always work, hence my entries in this thread.I hope it works for you.

Yes, I had confirmations for all of them, including yesterday's change to gmail. They were all responded to. I have three addresses, and I've tried each of them, and when they didn't work, i reverted to the normal one - hence the number of changes you note. Then yesterday I tried my wife's gmail account.
But I wondered whether the change needed to be done by say midnight of the day before, rather than just 45minutes before, as was the case yesterday.

I don't think you can subscribe to those, but they are at the top of every page of the forum as part of the headings. The "New Post" is the second on the brown bar and the "Today Post" is in the drop down button of the Quick Links, the last one on the brown bar.

One more thing I should mention is that if you use the "New Post" to look at all the active threads and have finished you use the "Mark Forums Read " under the "Forum Actions". This will clear the counter and start anew until you mark it read again.
When I've been away from the forum for a while the New Posts have accumulated for a while. After the last holidays it amounted to about 400 posts across the forums.

I don't think it is just me. i asked a friend to join and subscribe to a sub-forum, and he doesn't get daily updates either. I have a suspicion that the ability to receive daily updates after joining a sub-forum has dropped out, even though the option is still there to choose.
Ask someone else to subscribe to a new forum and see.
All my other emails from forum threads and private messages are working fine.
The lack of reports is not conclusive - people who never had this service aren't missing it, and don't necessarily know where to post a missing report item- there is no obvious place.
What would be conclusive is if you or Steven can see my daily update in a "Sent Updates" file.
