Sock it to me!

My wife is currently in hospital, (knee replacement) but before
going in she said, "Make sure you put a clean pair of socks on every day".

I have been doing so but now, after 7 days, I am finding it harder to
put my shoes on. I may have to purchase some thinner socks.

Easier solution. She didn't say, "Make sure you put shoes on." So don't. And stay indoors.

My dear long departed grandpa was told the same thing, found wandering the local streets one day clean pair of socks and nothing else.
