Ahoy All
My name is Jeff, my mates call me Dogs and I am from Thursday Island in the Torres Strait.
I did 18 years in the Navy as a Mine Warfare specialist before doing 3 years overseas as a private contractor.
I've been a keen amateur woodworker all my life but sold all my workshop gear when I went overseas. Came back three years later and followed the Mrs to TI for her work.
Now I find myself with a small 1 car garage to use as a shop and surrounded by nurses working shifts so the tools I used to use are out of the question. Way too noisy unfortunately, and getting yelled at by tired irate nurses is an interesting exercise in itself
So I am trying to get to grips with hand tools again. It's been a while, even when I was at school we used power tools for most things. I must admit my skills in this area are pretty low but it's as good a time as any to learn. Project 1 will be a workbench and will go from there.
I came across this site while researching different hand tool suppliers and techniques and found it to be a wealth of knowledge and ideas. I hope to learn a lot more from the good folks on this site and look forward to the challenge ahead.
Cheers
